Finalists with TypeLens

Mastranet AI is among the finalists of the Top of the PID 2025 Award, the initiative run by Unioncamere - the association of Italian Chambers of Commerce - that highlights the most innovative projects in artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 technologies.

We got there with TypeLens, our document automation platform: a place among Italian innovation excellence, in an award that looks specifically at how AI changes the processes of small and medium enterprises rather than at how sophisticated the technology is in itself.

What the Top of the PID award is

Top of the PID is the recognition the Italian chamber system gives to companies that have invested in digitalisation with concrete projects. Now in its seventh edition, the award sits within a broader initiative promoting the digital transformation and sustainable development of Italian micro, small and medium enterprises.

What the Digital Enterprise Points are

The PIDs (Punti Impresa Digitale, Digital Enterprise Points) are the local desks the Italian Chambers of Commerce set up to guide companies through the digital transition: digital maturity assessments, training, guidance on incentives. They are the channel through which an SME with no in-house IT department first encounters these topics.

That is not a bureaucratic footnote: it means the award comes out of the network that talks to the companies with the problem every day, not from a purely technological setting. It is also why it means something to us, since our work sits exactly in that space.

TypeLens: AI that puts the back office on autopilot

TypeLens is our answer to a daily challenge for small and medium enterprises: a SaaS document automation platform that uses artificial intelligence to turn emails and documents into automated workflows.

In practice: a delivery note, an invoice or an order arrives by email or scan, TypeLens recognises which document it is, extracts the useful fields - number, date, line items, amounts, item codes - and writes them into the ERP, with nobody retyping anything. The technical mechanism is explained in what OCR is and how it works, and a concrete use case is in delivery note automation.

Why this recognition matters

Italian SMEs are the hardest environment in which to sell automation: tight budgets, no dedicated IT department, processes built up over years around specific people. They are also the environment where document automation delivers the most immediate return, because manual data entry weighs proportionally more.

An award aimed at that segment, and born out of the chamber network, measures the right thing: not how advanced the model is, but how many hours of repetitive work it took off somebody's desk.

The ceremony at Maker Faire Rome

The ceremony took place during Maker Faire Rome 2025, from 17 to 19 October, at the Gazometro Ostiense in Rome.
